The anticipated video from the pop star extraordinaire Lady Gaga has arrived! The video for Marry The Night is a 13 minute self-directorial, autobiographical piece recounting the Lady’s journey as a young struggling artist on her way to stardom.
As usual, Gaga does not disappoint. She continues to separate herself from her peers with her love and passion for art and authenticity, but also with her love for showbiz and theater which she continues to pour into her music and videos.
In an interview with E! News, Gaga said that the opening scene to video, where she is rolled into a hospital room on a gurney by two nurses, is an ”insight into my entire creative process and the way that I view things."
While adding the finishing touches to the video, Gaga tweeted ”It is so true to my life it terrifies me.” As she released the video, she wrote ”An autobiographical film recounting my past, revealing my struggles and love for showbiz.” The song is an homage to New York City, yet the video is an homage to her struggles that made her the artist she is today.
The video for Marry The Night is honest, raw and at the same time pure theater. Just like Gaga. It is for anyone who enjoys fabulous cinematography, touching story telling and true commitment to art - something Gaga wholeheartedly has. The story of her reinvention is truly fascinating, even if you are not familiar with her previous work.
So Little Monster or not, it’s worth watching!
Marry The Night is the fourth single from Lady Gaga’s second studio album Born This Way, which since its release 6 months ago has sold 8 million copies.
